I broke my consecutive days of strictly Wayland use on Day 2, because I was having so many issues with a game I play (Splitgate). It would be fine for a few matches and then the mouse would lose tracking or whatever it’s doing. I’d have to restart the game to fix it. It started happening every match, so I gave up. I did try several times and ended up rebooting and logging in with X11 for the rest of that day.

After almost a week of mostly using Wayland, I will say it is significantly improved from even a few months ago. I did have a screen freeze… I had about 7 applications open, coding and running a couple of VMs for databases. I locked my screen when I had to leave for about an hour. When I came back, I unlocked it and only had a frozen blank screen. That was a one time issue and I’ve haven’t been able to reproduce it.

I’ve also been trying a new distro, dual booting, and I haven’t tested it with Wayland yet. I’m mainly testing it as a gaming distro for now. Once I begin testing other things on it, I’ll run it with Wayland. I’ll be blogging about the new distro sometime.
