KDE Plasma 5.26 Wayland – Day 1

Every so often I give Wayland a try on KDE Plasma, it normally lasts about an hour. Plasma 5.25 lasted about a day and a half, when I tried to play a game and my mouse wigged out. There were always little glitches or something, but that time I had my hopes up. openSUSE Tumbleweed recently got Plasma 5.26 and I thought I’d give Wayland a shot again.

The first thing I did when I logged in was open Steam and fire up Splitgate. It loaded fine. Started a match, FPS was normal. Played the match, actually forgot I was running Wayland, played another match, still no issues. Is it Wayland’s time? Maybe? I know of some GNOME users who use Wayland, seemingly without issues.

I’m going to give it a shot again. I normally post on Reddit about these tests, but I think I’ll try to chronicle it on my blog this time, if there is anything to chronicle. It seems promising so far.
